De Amerikaanse News University, een online opleidingsinstituut voor journalistiek, biedt een cursus aan in het beoordelen van nieuwsfoto's bij fotowedstrijden.
De cursus, die twee uur in beslag neemt, is gratis. Wel is registratie verplicht.
Title: Best of Photojournalism: What Makes a Winner
What will I learn? Go behind the scenes of the NPPA’s Best of Photojournalism 2006 contest. Through interviews and video of the judges at work, you'll learn what the judges look for in photojournalism excellence. Then take what you've learned and try your hand at judging in the “You Be the Judge” activity, and see how well you can recognize the winning aspects of a photograph.
This course contains images from winners and finalists in more than 25 contest categories. You can explore the gallery of images to view award-winning photojournalism from all over the world.
How long will it take? This course, including the video and the complete gallery of images, takes about two hours to complete. You can access the course on your own schedule, starting and stopping at your convenience. And you can come back anytime once you enroll.
This course was created in partnership with the National Press Photographers Association, The Poynter Institute and Western Kentucky University. It was partly funded by a grant to Western Kentucky and NPPA from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Cost: This course is available at no cost to registered users of News University.
